According to Asharq al-Awsat daily, published in London, the government of Oman announced it did not intend to invite Ahmadinejad for the next meeting of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Muscat.

The daily wrote: In response to some propagated news regarding invitation of Ahmadinejad to Muscat meeting, an Omani official said: We have no decision to invite the leaders of non-GCC countries for participation of this council’s session.

Asharq al-Awsat pointed out that: Recently the Iranian regime’s Foreign Ministry spokesman had referred to possibility of Ahmadinejad’s participation in the coming session of GCC leaders in Muscat
