France – AFP – 2/8/2015 – France’s ruling Socialists said Sunday they won a key by-election, beating the far-right National Front candidate in President Francois Hollande’s first major challenge since the Paris attacks.
The Socialist Party told AFP that Frederic Barbier won 51 to 52 percent of the votes in the second round of the poll in the eastern Doubs region that was seen as a key test to Hollande’s newfound popularity after his handling of the January killing spree.
