AFP, Cluny, France, 26 Nov 2011 – French socialist politicians gathered Saturday to pay their final respects to former first lady Danielle Mitterand.
The widow of former French president Francois Mitterand died Tuesday aged 87.
Several Socialist Party figures, including presidential candidate Francois Hollande and party secretary Martine Aubry, were among the hundreds of mourners at the funeral, held in the park of the abbey of Cluny in eastern France.
Attendees praised Danielle Mitterand for her tireless activism for a variety of courses including the rights of Tibetan and Kurdish populations.
