Four International Workers Federations called for demonstration in front of the Iranian regime’s embassies on Friday, June 26 to protest suppression of workers in Iran.
The objective of these demonstrations is to protest Iranian regime’s ignoring the most preliminary rights of the workers’ unions and continuous arrests.
These Federations that represent over 170,000,000 workers across the world are: the International Federation for Workers’ Unions, The World Education Organization, the International Federation of Transportation Workers and the International Union of Food Industries. Amnesty International has supported this call too.
The four federations also demanded release of the workers who were detained on May Day in Tehran.
Guy Rider, Secretary General of the International Federation of the Workers’ Unions, said: “We have exhausted all options to encourage the Iranian regime to recognize the most basic rights of the workers’ unions; however, the regime’s response was only arrests and suppression; therefore no other option is left for us but to come to streets to tell them that the world is watching them to see what they are doing in Iran and what they do to our colleagues.”
