EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini issued a statement saying in such harsh and difficult conditions the European Union stands with and announces its solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
United States President Barack Obama, Pope Francis and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon have also issued separate statements announcing their solidarity with Riyadh and expressing their deep condolences to the families of pilgrims who lost their lives in Thursday’s stampede in Mecca.
