EP strongly condemned human rights violation in Iran

EP strongly condemned human rights violation in Iran

European Parliament released a statement on violation of human rights by the clerical regime particularly suppression of women and asked for immediate halt in carrying out these verdicts.

Referring to detainment of women activists and anti-human stoning verdicts, the statement reads: We condemn suppression of civil society in Iran including women rights activists and ask for annulment of discriminative laws regarding women in different grounds.

EP has also strongly condemned death sentence and has asked for immediate halt of execution in Iran.

The EP statement asked the European Council and European Commission to monitor human rights situation in Iran and present a report at the end of 2008.
