Baghdad TV reported former Diyala Province governor Omar al-Homeiri, also a senior member of the ‘Diyala Hovieatana’ slate said 55% percent of Diyala residents went to the ballot boxes and reports of fraud and cheating has arrived from various cities.
A number of Maliki security apparatus elements have had a negative role in pressuring voters. In the Abi Seida district there has been cheating and militants were stationed in a large numbers outside of polling stations in order to create a climate of fear.
According to Baghdad TV the provinces of Neinawa, Diyala, al-Anbar, Baghdad and Salahaddin have witnessed various cases of elections fraud and cheating.
Baghdad TV in another report said according to unofficial preliminary results the Muttahedoon slate for reform leads the other slates in Baghdad and the six uprising provinces. In Diyala the ‘Diyala Hovieatana’ slateleads other slates. The ‘Arab Kirkuk’ slate also leads the votes in a number of the province’s regions.
Zafer al-Ani, spokesman of the Muttahedoon slate, spoke of reassuring news on a portion of the votes counted depicting a lead for this slate, despite all the obstacles placed before the voters.
Amar al-Hakim emphasized his elections slate is ahead in many central and southern Euphrates provinces.
