Eight injured and attacker killed after knife attack in Russian city of Surgut

. At least eight people have been wounded in a knife attack in Surgut 
. Nobody was killed in the assault but victims were given medical treatment

The DailyMail, 19 August 2017 – At least eight people have been wounded in a knife attack in Russia.
The attacker was shot dead by police in Surgut, central Russia, at about 11.20am local time, reports Russia Today.
He ‘carried out attacks on passers-by, causing stab wounds to eight,’ Russia’s Investigative Committee, which probes major crimes said, adding that armed police then ‘liquidated’ the attacker.

Nobody was killed in the assault but victims were given medical treatment, said officers.
The attacker has not yet been identified and police are attempting to establish the motive for the stabbing spree.
Surgut is the largest city of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area region with a population of around 350,00.
It is a major centre for oil and gas production in the country.
