Following tensions in relations between the Iranian regime and Egypt, the government of Egypt refrained from giving visa to the Iranian pupils’ computer team for participating in the World’s Computer Olympiad.

The state-run Mehr News Agency reported: “The twentieth World Computer Olympiad is held in Cairo, capital of Egypt, whereas the Iranian team has been banned to participate in these competitions due to obstructiveness of the Egyptian officials and bureau of Egyptian interests in Iran.”
