In the provinces of Karbala and al-Anbar, people protested against the lack of services.
Al-Araqiya TV reported demonstrators protested to the deplorable condition of public services and not fulfillment their promise by the authorities to improve electricity shortages.
Asharqia TV reported: Since Saturday chain protests have been ongoing against the shortage of services including a complete electricity outage and the growth of unemployment rates in Iraq. Hundreds of Karbala residents protested against shortage of services, complete power cut off electricity and the growing rate of unemployment, calling on the government to step down and corrupt government authorities be prosecuted.
While holding banners on the electricity shortage, protesters marched towards the provincial council chanting “We don’t have electricity, we don’t have water and they are all thugs and ’State of Law’ what happened to the electricity?” The protesters presented their demands to the provincial council. The protesters called on the government and other parties to find a solution for the electricity condition in which billions of dollars have been spent without any improvement in supplying electricity, a fact that has only raised the unemployment rate and deprived the people of their jobs.
Asharqia TV also covered the demonstration of the people of Ramadi, reporting that the outburst of the people’s frustration towards Maliki’s administration has broadened to the point that people of the city of Ramadi in the province of al-Anbar have demonstrated against the electricity shortage and the lack of services.
