
Orient Net, March 25, 2018 – A US-funded Gendarmerie Training Academy, was inaugurated in Jordan on Thursday (March 22), according to Reuters.
The center provides local gendarmes with skills such as improvised explosive device (IED) recognition, airport screening, cyber defense and bomb-sniffing canines.
The facility will also provide security training for forces from other US-allied countries in the region.
Jordan has been collaborating with the US Antiterrorism Assistance (ATA) program for over 30 years.
The program has trained over 7,000 law enforcement officers and provided $60 million dollars in support to security services in the country, according to the US State Department.
