Multi-National Force-Iraq, Baghdad, Iraq, 03 December 2008 – Coalition forces captured two suspected Katai’b Hezbollah terrorists and killed another individual during an operation early Wednesday in Baghdad’s Karadah district.
Acting on intelligence information, Coalition forces targeted two separate residences in search of a Katai’b Hezbollah special operations cell leader believed to be responsible for recent attacks against Iraqi citizens and Iraqi and Coalition forces.
At the first location in Karadah, Coalition forces approached a residence in search of the alleged terrorist, where they detained two of the cell leader’s associates without incident.
During a separate operation in Karadah, forces targeted another residence in search of the wanted man. As Coalition forces attempted to enter the building, an individual attacked a member of the assault force and tried to take the member’s weapon. Acting in self defense, forces engaged the man, killing him.
Katai’b Hezbollah is assessed to be a surrogate of Iran and its members are believed to be responsible for recent attacks against Iraqi citizens and Iraqi and Coalition forces.
