Multi-National Force-Iraq, Baghdad, Iraq, 15 July 2008 – Coalition forces captured the Iranian-trained leader of an explosives cell in the Adhamiyah district of Baghdad Tuesday.

Acting on intelligence information, Coalition forces targeted the location of an Iranian-trained explosives cell leader affiliated with the group Hezbollah Brigades. The man is suspected of running a network of explosives experts in Baghdad. Intelligence reports assess the individual is linked to attacks against Iraqi and Coalition bases in the Iraqi capital.

Coalition forces entered the targeted individual’s location where, after questioning, he identified himself to forces as the wanted individual. He was then detained without incident.
“Innocent Iraqi people are safer now that this cell has been disabled,” stated Col. Jerry O’Hara, MNF-I spokesman.
