AP, Santiago, Chile, 29 July 2014— Chile’s government is summoning its ambassador home from Tel Aviv for consultations and is condemning what it calls the worsening of Israel’s military offensive in the Gaza Strip.
It also says that the operations “breach fundamental norms in international humanitarian law,” complaining about the more than 1,000 civilian victims and strikes on hospitals and schools. Israel is trying to halt a wave of rocket and mortar fire from the Gaza Strip.
The ministry says Chile condemns those attacks as well, but says Israel’s response is disproportionate.
