Dick Cheney , US Vice-President said that the failure and retreat in Iraq, among other things, would send this message to Tehran that the US does not have the necessary will to deal with basic issues, whether those issues are to defend democracy today or to prevent proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Speaking in Oklahoma, Cheney added: Victory in Iraq would give moral support to democracy and human rights supporters from Syria to Lebanon to Iran and would ensure them that the free world is not indifferent to their future. A day will come that the terrorist groups and regimes won’t create threats against us and our friends.
