French news agency (AFP) quoted the British government that increased pressure on Iran over its controversial nuclear programme is still a valid strategy.
Iran’s nuclear programme poses a “serious” security threat, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s spokesman Michael Ellam said Tuesday, a day after a US intelligence report.
“The report’s conclusions justify the action already taken by the international community to get to the bottom of Iran’s nuclear programme and to increase pressure on the regime to stop its enrichment and reprocessing activities,” a British foreign ministry spokeswoman said.
Michael Ellam, the British premier’s spokesman, said: “We do need to examine the details of this report,” “the government believes that the report confirms we were right to be worried about Iran seeking to develop nuclear weapons,” he said.
The US intelligence report confirms … the international community’s strategy of negotiations with and putting pressure on Tehran, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Monday.
