In Iraq news US forces carried out 4 more rounds of airstrikes against ISIS positions in northern Iraq. The Associated Press cited American officials saying these attacks were aimed at destroying equipment used by ISIS.
Obama said on Saturday the war against ISIS is a long-term project and there is no time limit on it. At a press conference the US president said the most important timetable is the establishing and finalizing the Iraqi government because with the absence of an Iraqi government it will be very difficult to have a united effort by Iraqis against ISIS. The US can carry out airstrikes but in the end there will be no American military solution for this problem, he added, going on to say there must be an Iraqi solution. There must be a legitimate Iraqi government and when an inclusive government is in power our campaign against ISIS will most definitely be easier, Obama concluded.
