On Friday the number of demonstrators in Baghdad was much higher than previous weeks, al-Sharqiya TV reported on February 8th.
In retaliation, the number of security forces dispatched to different areas was also much higher. Baghdad’s Karkh region is always the site of the largest demonstration in the capital. Friday’s demonstrations in Baghdad also spread to the Addora and al-Seyedia regions. Rallies were also staged in Qazaliya, the Green Zone, Salikh and many other regions throughout the capital and the demonstrators were in high spirits.
