Baghdad residents protest against Maliki on lack of electricity, services

The Iraqi capital witnessed a demonstration against Maliki’s government with participants protesting poor conditions of electricity and other services.
Al-Sharqiya TV reported, “The people of Baghdad’s al-Ma’amel district demonstrated in protest to poor service conditions and continuous power-outs. The demonstrators closed the international road as an act of protest, threatening to expand their dissents to other regions of the capital and provinces.”
In other news the Iraqi NINA news agency reported of lawyers staging a sit-in in the southern city of Karbala.
This news agency wrote, “A group of Karbala lawyers gathered outside of the Appeals Court building of this city protesting recent security forces’ raids against their coworkers.”
