The Azerbaijan Republic confiscated a shipment of Russian nuclear equipment headed to Iran due to UN sanctions against the clerical regime.

According to the Iranian state-run press, the Azerbaijan Republic’s spokesman said that his country had asked for presenting more information regarding those equipment because he was concerned of possible violation of three rounds of UN Security Council’s sanctions against Iranian nuclear program. He added: Considering the sensitivity of conditions, we must know details on the shipment to make sure there is no contradiction between these nuclear equipment with UN sanctions.

The Russian Atom Stroy Export confirmed confiscation of nuclear equipment and announced that one or two trucks carrying nuclear equipment destined to Bushehr Plant in Iran-Azerbaijan border had been stopped.
