In an interview with Al-Arabia T.V., Dr. Ayad Allawi, the al-Iraqia leader said: My first concern is a monopoly in running the government which may end up with dictatorship. Monopoly is taking root and we, especially I, consider that as a very dangerous phenomenon. Another issue that is similarly as dangerous, is that the Iraqi political foundation is still based on political sectarianism which is a serious threat to Iraq…..I mentioned the internal threats, but there are also external threats which are the increasing influence of the regional countries in Iraq.. Iraq’s status is critical, political status is volatile, the relationship between the central government and the provinces is explosive, and sectarian attitude is still strong…
In response to a question on the meddling of the neighboring countries Dr. Ayad Allawi said: “The regional meddling, like our neighboring country Iran, is dangerous. In addition, we have heard from the government and multinational forces that arms have entered the country, but no denials by the Iranian regime was offered. This is dangerous… The government is incapable of responding; it has no political, military or intelligence power, nor does it have any power in internal security which is certainly a dangerous matter.”
