The Kol al-Iraq news agency reported al-Wataniya faction leader Ayad Allawi met with Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo on Thursday, discussing the current situation in Iraq and positions of the Arab world.
“President al-Sisi welcomed a delegation of the Arab & Int’l Relations Council consisting of Ayad Allawi, former Lebanese prime minister Fuwad al-Sionere and Arab Parliaments Union President Mohammad al-Saqar with the presence of Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shokri at the presidential office,” Egyptian presidential spokesman Ihab Badawi reported.
Al-Sisi said, “Our measures regarding Iraq are aimed at sending this message that the solution lies in a new agreement between Iraqi forces focusing on a comprehensive national agenda that can fight against fundamentalism.”
