
Orient Net, 25 February 2018 — Assad militias, backed by Russian air force, carried out Sunday (Feb. 25) an incursion on the opposition enclave of Eastern Ghouta, a few hours after UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution for a 30-day ceasefire in Syria.
According to Orient News correspondent, Assad militias launched incursion in Eastern Ghouta on Karm al-Rassas, Al-Zreqiyah, Hazrama, and Hwash Al-Dawahirah axes, using armored vehicles.
The incursion was accompanied with heavy shelling on the attacked areas, our correspondent added.
Assad regime targeted Harasta with the internationally banned napalm, in an attempt by regime militias to advance into the city, our correspondent reported.
Russian aircraft on Sunday morning targeted the Al-Shifoniyah city while regime militias targeted several areas with mortar rounds, including Douma and Jisreen, and dropped barrel-bombs on Hawsh al-Dawahira town.
Our correspondents confirmed shelling killed 3 people in Bait Sawa, Saqba and Hammouriyah.
Regime airstrikes and artillery have been pounding the enclave near Damascus since Feb 18, with at least 519 killed since the bombing campaign was launched.
The Security Council on Saturday unanimously adopted a 30-day ceasefire to allow for humanitarian aid deliveries and medical evacuations.
The measure did not specify when the truce would go into force beyond saying it should be “without delay”.
