Dr. Ayad Allawi, former Iraqi Prime Minister, announced that the Iranian regime has planned his assassination and tries to carry it out through the Iraqi groups affiliated to the regime.

In an interview with Al-Watan weekly of Jordan, Dr. Ayad Allawi said: I received warnings about the plan of my assassination through intelligence sources. These plans are supposed to be carried out by Iraqi groups affiliated to the Iranian regime, because I oppose the Iranian regime’s destructive role in Iraq.

He added: I am in contact with the United Nations and a number of international organizations in order to provide political asylum for former Iraqi Army officers, because these officers are exposed to assassination.
