Canadian Al Jazeera TV journalist Mohamed Fahmy was amongst the 100 prisoners pardoned by Egyptian President Abdel Fatta al-Sisi on Wednesday, AFP reported citing security sources.
The reported pardons came a day before Sisi planned to head to New York for the 70th session of the U.N. General Assembly.
Fahmy, along with three other Al Jazeera journalists, was sentenced to three years in prison in a retrial last month on charges of operating without a press license and broadcasting material harmful to Egypt.
