Abe supports commitment to stopping chemical arms

NHK NEWSLINE, 14 April 2018— Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has commented on the strikes launched by the US, Britain and France on Syria in response to an alleged chemical attack by the Syrian administration on civilians.

Abe said the use of chemical weapons is inhumane and unacceptable.

He said the Japanese government supports the commitment of the US, Britain and France to never tolerating the spread and use of chemical weapons.

Abe said he understands the attack was aimed at preventing a further escalation of the situation.
He says he will convene a meeting of the National Security Council to discuss Japan’s response.
