
Countries participating in Cairo International Conference on Sunday agreed to donate $5.4bn to help reconstruct Gaza after a 50-day Israeli attack last summer that left hundreds of thousands of Palestinians homeless.
Among the countries contributed to this project is Qatar which agreed to pay $1b, and the US says it pays $212mi, Germany $63mi and Britain would share $32mi of the cost.
The conference which was hosted by Egyptian president al-Sisi and cohosted by Norway ended with a total pledge of $5.4bn to help the Palestinian people rebuild their lives hand homes. The spokesman for the Palestinian government said: “we expect more international support, not only in form of financial donations, but political support as well to be able to end the siege on Gaza and also support for Palestinian efforts to end the occupation.”
