2000 Georgian soldiers stationed at Iran-Iraq border to prevent arms flow to Iraq

According to MNFI statement, about 2000 Georgian soldiers affiliated with MNFI, were stationed neighboring Iran-Iraq border to prevent entrance of arms, ammunition and terrorist elements to Iraq. For this purpose the 3rd Georgian Brigade to man checkpoints between al Kut and the Iran-Iraq border, provide convoy and base security and provide troops for a joint quick reaction force with the US Forces.

In order to increase the Iranian border’s control, the US Forces are constructing a military base in Iraqi soil 4 miles away from the Iranian border in order to prevent sending arms and ammunition to the militias and terrorists by the Iranian regime.
