We urge international community to impose pressure on Government of Iraq to respect Ashraf rights

Sawt al-Iraq website, April 17, 2010 – Dr. Dhafer al-Aani, Secretary General of the National Future Assembly and one of the leaders of al-Iraqia coalition, asserted that the goal behind Iraqi government security officials’ measures, abusing current political vacuum, to conduct unjustified and illegal attack against defenseless friends of Iraqi people who reside in Camp Ashraf, is to satisfy the mullahs’ regime in Tehran, to disturb the talks regarding formation of new government, and to cause disorder.

Therefore, we condemn such provoking measures that tarnish the prestige of noble people of Iraq. We held government officials responsible for likely consequences in this regard, and we call on them to protect Iraqi people’s interests and not those of the ruling gang in Tehran. We also urge international community to impose pressure on the government of Iraq to respect international and humanitarian covenants that our brothers and sisters in Ashraf enjoy.
