INTV, 21 Sep 2013 – Iraqi MP Talal al-Zobaei from the Iraqiya Coalition denounced the Iraqi government’s denial on holding the seven Ashrafi hostages, consisting of six women, and arresting them during the September 1 massacre of 52 individuals in Ashraf. He went on to emphasize the necessity to release these hostages and the matter of their extradition to Iran being a red line.
Al-Zobaei stressed the government cannot relieve itself of its responsibility by denying its role in the September 1 massacre, of which there is an undeniable collection of evidence including video footages and pictures published, and across the globe they are emphasizing the role of the Iraqi armed forces. Al-Zobaei called on the Iraqi government to set all curtains aside and stop cloaking information about the abducted Ashraf residents and their fate, and assume full responsibility over their lives and well-being.
Talal al-Zobaei is one of the 100 Iraqi MPs signing a recently issued statement urgently calling on the US, UNAMI and the UNHCR to use all their assets for the immediate and unconditional release of the abducted hostages because they are facing the threat of death at any moment.
