Responding to a question brought up based on the MEK accusation that elements of Iraqi government linked to the Iranian regime have been behind the Thursday missile attack on Camp Liberty, Mr. John Kirby, the spokesman for the US State Dept. said “we’ve repeatedly pressed the Government of Iraq at various levels to take all possible measures to ensure the safety and security of the residents, and we’ve actively supported and will continue to do so the many efforts of the UN as it has worked to encourage Government of Iraq officials to make security improvements to the camp.” He added “we understand that the only permanent relocation of the residents of the camp outside of Iraq is going to be able to assure their safety, and we continue to make that case.”
