Iraqi MP Ahmad al-Alavani, Chairman of the Parliament Economic Commission described the United Nation’s approach towards Ashraf residents as vague, illogical and in some ways biased. The UN failed Ashraf residents in their transfer to Camp Liberty and committed a very grave mistake, he added.
“Camp Liberty’s gates were to be open to TV networks and press jounalists to report their conditions, and the readiness of this camp to settle these refugees who have been transferred there from Camp Ashraf,” al-Alavani said in a press release.
“The Iraqi government’s measure to prevent the entrance of TV networks and press reporters to Camp Liberty and stationing armed military vehicles near the women’s residential areas is unacceptable because this is not according to the Arabic and Islamic moral values and police forces must immediately exit the camp because these individuals are refugees and they have no military or political activities and they are unarmed and peaceful people,” the statement added.
Al-Alavani described the government’s conduct as the implementation of Iranian regime orders because women have a sanctum that must be respected and this issue is of high value among Arabs and Muslims. However, the influence of the Iranian regime on various dominant politicians in power has led them to practice measures far from Arabic customs and traditions.
