In an interview with Democratiya satellite TV, General Wafiq al-Samarrai, former Iraqi National Security advisor, said: “I am one of those who stand against the Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq and the region and I am proud to do so. The Iranian regime accuses me of working in coordination with the PMOI. I have no coordination with PMOI but I respect them and wish for them to be in Tehran to establish a democratic rule devoid of terrorism.”

Sarmad Abdulkarim, the director of Iraqi News Agency from Copenhagen, also said in the same program: “The Iranian regime has been severely defeated in domination of Iraq. That regime counted on sectarianism in Iraq; that regime counted on Iraqi Shiites; however, the Iraqi Shiites including Sheikh Kadhim al-Anizan, Ayatollah Moayyed Baghdadi, and Sarkhi stood against the regime and told that regime: ” you are expelled from Iraq”; even more, along with three million southern Iraqi Shiites, they expressed their support for Ashraf and signed a covenant with the PMOI and announced that the Iraqi Shiites reject occupation of Iraq by the Iranian regime.”

Sarmad Abdulkarim added: “The United States has legal and humanitarian responsibility in Iraq; keeping Iraq’s unity, securing Iraq’s borders and expulsion of the occupier regime of Iran is among the US responsibilities, but the very important issue is the protection of Ashraf City. This city is the frontline of the Iranian opposition against the clerical regime.”
