The Association of Independent Jurists in Defense of Human Rights in Iraq, consisting of 12,000 Iraqi lawyers and jurists from across the country, calls for urgent action by the UN and US government to ‘impel the Iraqi government to provide the residents’ humanitarian needs before their transfer from Ashraf to Liberty’. The jurists, hailing the wise and resistant Iraqi tribes and people, are honored to announce they have conducted a thorough and expertise analysis of the statement signed by 210,000 Iraqis from various provinces and people from all walks of life.
Considering the country’s independence and democracy and the approach towards Iranian regime dissidents who are political refugees in Camp Ashraf, the Association of Independent Jurists in Defense of Human Rights in Iraq announces:
“The gathering of these signatures takes place while intense security conditions, sectarian killings and threats against patriots along with widespread interference by the Iranian regime in Iraq made the task much more difficult. However, due to the Iraqi people’s support and vast social welcoming of this statement, they were able to gather the signatures of 210,000 noble Iraqis from all over the country.”
In line with the Iraqi people the Association of Independent Jurists also announced, “We support the 8-point plan presented to the UN on July 26th to provide minimum humanitarian necessities.”
“The signatures of this declaration were approved after a very thorough and technical analysis conducted by the association. We call on all international lawyers unions and journalists, and invite all the relevant international organizations and bodies to send their representatives to the committee in charge of gathering these signatures to examine this statement along with each and every signature, which represent the will of Iraq’s freedom loving people and tribes.”
