These 318 Iranians need our support

Evening Standard, 19 Apr 2011 –
It is a fault in the frontal lobes of humanity that we cannot cope with too many foreign stories at once. Our concentration on Libya makes us forgetful of Afghanistan . By the time Japan’s nuclear explosion had been upgraded to the same level as Chernobyl , it had been downgraded to the inside pages of newspapers. What hope, then, for the bloody attacks on 318 Iranian dissidents by Iraqi forces at Camp Ashraf in Iraq ?
The modest but well-organised Iranian opposition group, the National council of resistance of Iran, has been imploring the world’s attention since April 8. Their message is simple and chilling. When we invaded Iraq, we handed power to IRAN. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki is doing Tehran ’s bidding now at Camp Ashraf, directed by Iranian Revolutionary Guards. The NCRI held a conference in Westminster today to draw attention to the plight of the brave, endangered people of Camp Ashraf. They deserve a hearing.
