The time has come that the EU removes the PMOI from its black list, Maryam Rajavi

Wednesday, May 28, 2008, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, entered Brussels to deliver her speech in the European Parliament. She was welcomed by the Vice President and a number of prominent representatives of the EP from various parliamentarian groups as well as prominent British parliamentarians from the three main parties.

Some of the figures who took part in the gathering were:
– Lord Russel-Johnston, former chairman of the parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe
– Lord Clark, the former chair of the British Labor party
– David Jones, Member of British House of Commons
– Senator Derek Class, member of Belgium senate
– Mr. Yanusz Onyszkiewicz, deputy head of foreign committee of the EU
– Mr. Straun Stevenson, deputy chief of Christian Democratic group in European Parliament and co-chairman of the Committee of Friends of Free Iran,
– Mr. Paulo Casaca, European Parliament’s representative from the Socialist Group and co- chairman of the Committee of Friends of Free Iran
– Mr. Sid Ahmed Ghozali, former prime minister of Algeria

A group of Iranians and sympathizers of the Iranian Resistance also gathered to welcome Mrs. Rajavi and condemn the missile attack against the Ashraf city by the Iranian regime.

The parliamentarian gathering in the EU main headquarters in Belgium was entitled “the EU policy on Iran and the Iranian Resistance” and was chaired by Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras, Vice President of the European Parliament.

Dr. Vidal-Quadras was the first speaker welcomed Mrs. Rajavi and said that everything is clear for the EU Council of Ministers; the British list was the basis for the unjust designation of PMOI; by removing the PMOI off this list, the Council of Ministers must officially annul the terrorist label from PMOI and must end the appeasement policy toward the clerical dictatorship.

In part of her speeches Mrs. Rajavi said :

Change in Iran is in reach, but only through the Iranian people and their resistance. I therefore declare:
First: the European Union must respect the rule of law. It must remove the PMOI from the terrorist list immediately and damages imposed on the PMOI. It must alleviate restrictions and damages imposed on the PMOI.
Second: The European Union must recognize the Iranian resistance for democracy.
Third: The European Union must stop making any concessions to this regime and impose comprehensive sanctions against it.

Part of the speeches by other speakers were as below:

Lord Russel-Johnston: : I want to begin by condemning in the strongest terms the attack to Ashraf City, home of the PMOI in Iraq by mercenaries acting upon orders by the Iranian terms.
Lord Johnston asked the EU to remove the PMOI from its terrorist list.

Struan Stevenson: A little bit to look behind the reasons that why we are sitting today and why the PMOI was placed in the terror list in the first place, we are dealing after all with the world’s most evil regime in Iran, we are dealing with a regime whose fingerprints are on every act of terrorism that the world has seen in the past 20 years; they are the regime that and behind Hmas and the division of Palestine , behind Hizbullah and the war against Israel , behind the civil war and try to foment in Lebanon, behind insurgency in Iraq and killing the allied troops and tens of thousands of innocent men, women and children. this is the evil regime who terrorizes, and tortures its own people, men , women and children and instead of that regime , offered an opposition to that regime , an alternative.
Stevenson added that the EU shouldn’t continue such noxious and shameful policies and it is necessary to take immediately the PMOI off its terror list to end this policy.
