NCRI – The Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxim Verhagen, said that on a number of occasions, his government has emphasized to the Iraqi government to act in accordance to its promise regarding the Camp Ashraf residents and to not forcefully deport them or return them to Iran.
“After the disturbing attacks of July 28 against the residents of Camp Ashraf, the European Union has expressed its concern. The Iraqi government had given us guarantees that it would mobilize all of its forces to prevent any violent action, but it did not act according to these guarantees,” the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxim Verhagen, said in replies posted in the website of the Dutch Parlaiment to numerous parliamentary questions. The Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs added: “Simultaneous with the EU, the Dutch government made the same appeal to the Iraqi government and expressed its concerns and repeatedly emphasized to the Iraqi government to fulfill the promises that has made to Camp Ashraf residents; that is, not to forcefully deport them nor return them to Iran. We made a similar call on the Iraqi government prior to the attack that it shouldn’t forcefully return them to Iran and, in response to our warnings, the Iraqi government had reiterated that it would not do so.”
