Various sheikhs and tribal councils in Iraq joined the Iraqi National Front along with jurists and lawyers in condemning the Iranian regime’s meddling in their country and the inhumane siege on Ashraf and installation of spying towers.
Declaration of the Iraqi National Tribes Council – Diyala Province
Declaration of the Secretariat of the Iraqi Tribal Association – Baghdad:
The Iraqi society has suffered too much from the Iranian regime’s meddling, and unfortunately not only have these measures and crimes not diminished, they have actually reached a new scope. These new measures include the installation of spy towers and tapping devices against the PMOI in Camp Ashraf and imposing pressure and insulting them through loudspeakers. We urge the UN and the Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to end these pressures against political refugees.
Declaration of the Secretariat of the Iraqi National Front
The siege on Ashraf and preventing lawyers from meeting their clients amongst Camp Ashraf residents is an example of how the organs affiliated to the Iraqi Prime Ministry are free to break the law and impose pressure against people that are protected under international laws.
The Iraqi National Front condemns these inhumane measures and calls on international organizations responsible for refugee rights to intervene in this humanitarian issue and make it possible for lawyers to meet their clients.
Iraqi Council of Lawyers in Defense of Refugees Rights
We call on the Iraqi judiciary, Parliament, Human Rights Committee of the Parliament, Iraqi Bar Association, Iraqi Jurists Union and all Iraqi nationalist figures to prevent the flagrant law violations by the government in Camp Ashraf.
