On the occasion of ‘International Human Rights Day’, a session was held at the press building of the Italian Senate with regard to the severe violation of human rights in Iran. The participants in the session included a number of senators and members of the parliament as well as some personalities and heads of societies in defense of human rights.

In the beginning of the session, Antonio Stango, chairman of Helsinki Watch and the head of Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom in Italy, said: “As you all know the Iranian regime violates the human rights severely, and therefore it has been condemned 55 times by the United Nations. Moreover, the Iranian regime threatens peace and security of the Middle East and the world by exporting terrorism. In our initiative today, besides to many senators and parliamentarians, many governmental human rights organizations are present too and have joined our initiative.

Senator Vincenzo Fasano, from the ruling coalition, called supporting the Iranian Resistance and said: “I have studied your programs and am aware of your goals for the future and also your support of annulment of death penalty. I also very welcome your genuine motto of your future government which is the separation of church and state, and hence I find myself committed to stand by you”.

Senator Pasquale Nessa, member of foreign commission of the Senate and deputy of Italian parliamentarian delegation in the Western European Union assembly from Italy’s ruling party, said: “We have to continue this struggle together because a free Iran where all women are also free is to the benefit of the whole world. I am aware of your struggle for women’s freedom and I wish you success.

Senator Marco Perduca, who has been in Ashraf recently, said: “We were in Ashraf and listened to the words of the Ashraf residents closely. We want the PMOI be removed from the black list and the protection of Ashraf residents be guaranteed. We won’t abandon following up the issue of Ashraf from Italian government because this is a respect to the human rights and the rights of all human beings.

Senator Giorgio Bornacin, from ruling party, said: “It is very important today that we are present and struggle against the violation of human rights. This is the duty of all parliamentarians who live in democratic countries. I am with you to restore the rights of the Iranian people’s rights and participate with you in this struggle.

Carlo Ciccioli, the parliament member said: “The violation in Iran has unbelievable scale. Limb amputation, stoning and … are still going on. I will be with you in this struggle.
