Nouri Maliki must implement the will of the United Nations and international community to cancel the illegal Ashraf closure deadline, the Iraqi NINA news agency reported.
Senior Iraqiya Coalition member Dr. Zafer al-Ani issued a statement hoping Maliki during his visit to Washington will respond to the calls of the international community such as UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, UNAMI chief Martin Kobler and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, and change his stance on this subject.
“It is not adequate for the prime minister to confront Iraq against the international community while the country needs the most help from the international community,” al-Ani said. “The international community has had positive cooperation with Iraq.”
“It is completely unacceptable for the prime pinister to show in such a way as if Iraq is annexed and affiliated to the Tehran regime and conducts the dictations of the velayat-e faqih,” he continued.
This senior Iraqiya Coalition member added cancelling the illegal Ashraf closure deadline, not forcefully relocating the residents and agreeing with the UNHCR to reconfirm Ashraf residents’ refugee status shows Iraq truly has independence following the US forces withdrawal.
