Sheikh Faisal Houm, general sheikh of the Neda Tribe in Iraq’s Diyala Province issued a declaration in support of the European Parliament proposal for Camp Ashraf. “With the EP initiative, a practical agreement has been presented with the help of the UN. We, the sheikhs and tribes of Diyala Province, believe that such an agreement will only become possible when security and relative peace is established for Ashraf residents, and this is possible with the Iraqi forces’ evacuation from Ashraf as a first step. Afterwards, dialogue can take place for any kind of permanent solution for Camp Ashraf.
If anyone seeks to respect Ashraf residents’ minimum rights and demands under international laws and the Geneva Conventions, and is actually in search of a solution to resolve this crisis, they will definitely welcome the solution put forward by the European Parliament.
Unless someone is seeking to please the regime ruling Iran and carry out another senseless act. Such a measure is condemned beforehand.”
