Renowned Chess World champion Garry Kasparov expressed support for Ashraf residents’ rights

Garry Kasparov, the world’s most renowned chess champion, former Russian presidential candidate and a prominent human rights activist, issued a statement calling on the United Nations, European Union and United States to take action to guarantee the rights of Ashraf residents.
Kasparov condemned the vicious psychological torture imposed on Ashraf residents through 300 loudspeakers along with other cruel limitations and restrictions. Kasparov also welcomed the European Parliament plan to find a lasting and peaceful solution for the issue of Camp Ashraf residents.
While expressing his gratitude for the efforts and measures of EU foreign policy chief Baroness Ashton taken in defense of Ashraf residents’ rights, Kasparov called on Lady Ashton to use the resources at the disposal of the European Union and European countries to guarantee protection for the residents.
Kasparov called on the UN Security Council to station a permanent UN monitoring team to provide and guarantee security for Ashraf residents until their final resettlement in other host territories.
