In an interview with Al-Baghdadia TV, Iraq, March 8, 2009, Seyyed Ayad Jamaluddin,Iraqi prominent Shiite clergy and vice chairman of Iraqi Parliament’s Foreign Relations Commission, asserted that the indication of nationalism and non-affiliation of political forces to the Iranian regime is their approach towards the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI).
Ayad Jamaluddin added: “To understand the nature of Iraqi political forces, I suggest an indicator. Any force that pushes to expel the PMOI from Iraq, it is an indication that it is organically tied to Iran. I am not defending the PMOI, but the PMOI is a card in the hand of Iraqi government vis-à-vis Iran.
When an Iraqi political entity wants to expel them for free and for God’s sake, it deprives Iraq from all cards by which it can pressure the Iranian side”.
