On Tuesday 23 September 2008, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) held a press conference in Vienna to reveal the latest information and further details regarding Iranian regime’s attempts for producing nuclear warheads to mount on the Shahab-3 missiles, and also the regime’s using front organizations for fulfilling the production program of nuclear warheads.

Dr. Ali Safavi, member of Foreign Affairs Committee of NCRI, said: “According to reliable intelligence collected by the PMOI network inside Iran, since two years ago, the mullahs’ regime has been intensely pursuing the project of obtaining nuclear warheads to mount on long range and ballistic missiles. Tehran has founded several front organizations for providing necessities for this project and also for keeping it hidden from the IAEA inspectors and securing it from the UN sanctions. A key front organization which is active in this project is the “Asra New Technology Engineering Company”. This company is active in designing warheads and other parts of the missile, and also in purchasing necessary materials for the project through smuggling from other countries. Dozens of experts in various fields related to designing the warhead as well as some of the most senior military and military industry officials work in this company to provide the necessary materials for the project through smuggling.

“The main person in charge of the project, in general, and particularly in charge of the company is ‘Mehdi Naghian Fesharaki’. Fesharaki’s plan is to produce warheads that are mountable on Shahab-3 or Ghadr missiles.”

In another part of the conference, Dr. Safavi specified that North Korean experts have contributed significant help to the mullahs’ regime in advancing the ballistic missile project. The North Korean experts have helped the regime’s experts especially in designing the warheads and their aerodynamic profile. In addition, they have also provided the engineering design of the Hemmat site and the clandestine tunnels and centers for the Iranian regime.

Safavi also disclosed more details on the regime’s center for manufacturing nuclear warhead and ballistic missile in the Khojair region in Tehran. He said, “Khojair region, southeast of Tehran, is the place where the ballistic missiles such as Shahab-3 are manufactured. These missiles are capable of carrying nuclear warheads and the range of some types of it is as much as 2000 Km. The regime’s Aerospace Organization has seven different industrial groups, and the production departments of three groups are located in Khojair region whose names are Hemmat industrial group, Bakeri industrial group, and part of Ya-Mehdi industries.”
