An Italian political and parliamentary delegation visited Ashraf City and underscored the necessity of guarantee of Ashraf residents’ protection and observance of their legal rights.
The Italian delegation consisted of Giancarlo Boselli, deputy mayor and governorship advisor of Cuneo, Senator Marco Perduca, member of Italian Senate Foreign Committee, Antonio Stango, chairman of the Helsinki Watch, the international and human rights’ organization in Italy, Stefano Menicacci, jurist and former member of parliament, and Mrs. Yuliya Vasslyeva, coordinator of the human rights “Hand off Cane” organization.
In the course of this visit the sign of one of the circles in Ashraf city that was named after its sister City, “Cuneo” was unveiled by Cuneo’s Deputy Mayor.
In a ceremony, Ms. Sedigheh Hosseini, Secretary General of the PMOI and Mr. Giancarlo Boselli, deputy mayor of Cuneo presented the flags of Ashraf City and Cuneo to the residents of the two sister cities.
In her speech, Ms. Sedigheh Hosseini said: “Today Ashraf is proud to welcome the dear Italian guests, particularly that the sister city of Cuneo is the heart of resistance against fascism. Before anything, I should welcome these dear guests who symbolized and realized consociation of the Cuneo and Ashraf. The consociation of Cuneo and Ashraf is not accidental, this is a historic unity, and it is an idealistic unity, because both cities are the cities of resistance; one against the racial fascism and the other against religious fascism. Consequently, freedom and equality of human beings are the common goal for both cities and their residents. That is why the mullahs are afraid of this unity.”
In his speech, Cuneo’s deputy mayor said: “Let me greet you and embrace you on behalf of the city of Cuneo and its residents; hail to Massoud Rajavi, hail to Maryam Rajavi, and hail to you, Ashraf residents. I read the message of Cuneo’s mayor to you: “I dedicate my kind greeting to the city of Ashraf that is able to resist against all enemies despite many physical and moral sufferings. The city of Cuneo received gold medal for its resistance from the Italian President; because the resistance against fascism and foreign occupation rose from Cuneo.”
Mr. Giancarlo Boselli then dedicated the book containing names of 15,000 martyrs of Cuneo against fascism to Ms. Sedigheh Hosseini.
Then Senator Perduca, from Italy’s Radical Party, Antonio Stango , Stefano Menicacci and Yuliya Vasslyeva delivered speeches and reiterated the security of Ashraf residents and removal of PMOI from the European Union’s terrorist list.
