Participants in the 2nd day of Geneva sit-in stressed on ICRC intervention to guarantee Ashraf protection by MNF-I

On the second day of Geneva sit-in by the Iranian Resistance supporters and families of Ashraf residents outside the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) bureau and UN European Bureau, the participants and speakers stressed on the just demands for ICRC’s intervention and guarantee for protection of Ashraf City by the Multi National Forces in Iraq.

The first speaker was Mr. Mahmoud Ahmadi, member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), who said: “According to the Fourth Geneva Convention, the U.S. and the MNF-I are in charge of protection of Ashraf residents, and the ICRC must guarantee continuance of this responsibility by the U.S., and must emphasize that transfer of Ashraf protection violates Ashraf residents’ rights due to the Iranian regime’s conspiracies.”

The next speaker was Mr. Reza Olia, the Iranian artist and member of the NCRI who said: “the goal of this gathering, which is a sample of tens of other demonstrations and gatherings in different countries, is to draw the attention of ICRC to its commitments regarding Ashraf residents. Our demand is the same thing Mrs. Rajavi, President-elect of the NCRI, pointed out in her meetings with Italian Parliament Speaker, Mayor, Senate vice-chairwoman and Vatican officials, and that is to support Ashraf City. We repeat that our desire and that of Ashraf people is freedom and democracy for Iran.”

The next speaker was Mohammad Reza Rowhani, chairman of the Nationality Affairs Committee of the NCRI. He referred to the clerical regime’s atrocities and said: “The Geneva Convention is the regulations of war and refugees and human rights and can not be plaything of this or that government.

Dr. Hamidreza Taherzadeh, the artist member of the NCRI, played some beautiful music pieces particularly one of the PMOI’s anthems which affected the participants.

During this sit-in, mothers and family members of Ashraf residents, while carrying the pictures of their relatives rallied outside UN headquarter and read a statement.
