NCRI, 27 Dec 2012 – On Wednesday, December 26th, the state-run Fars news agency, affiliated to the Revolutionary Guards Fars, quoting “an informed source in the government committee responsible for closing the case of Mojahedin in Iraq” wrote: “A member of this terrorist grouplet committed suicide on Tuesday.”
The Revolutionary Guards claimed “He committed suicide after not receiving an answer for his asylum application submitted two months ago to go to a European country.”
Behrooz Rahimian, a resident of Camp Liberty, died at 12 noon on Sunday, December 23rd, after Iraqi Army intelligence agents prevented him from being hospitalized.
The reason the mullahs’ regime resorts to such fabricated remarks and lies is the revelation of the Iraqi government’s deliberate crimes against Ashraf and Liberty residents, which once again turns attentions to camp Ashraf and Liberty where the mullahs’ conspiracies take place due to the silence and inaction of the UN and the US, and the complaisance of Martin Kobler for Iraqi government and the mullahs regime.
On Monday, Mohammad al-Soudani, Iraq’s Human Rights Minister, told Associated Press that he would start an investigation on this issue and “if there is problem, we will find it.”
Anne Czichos, spokeswoman in Baghdad said that the UN is aware of Rahimian’s death and is trying to find the facts on this case, according to The Washington Post in a piece published on December 24th, 2012.
As the National Council of Resistance of Iran announced, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki and his officials are responsible for the death of Behrooz Rahimian by depriving him of medical treatment.
In addition, UNAMI and Martin Kobler must be held accountable for their silence on the inhumane siege imposed on Liberty and avoiding the complaints made by Behrooz and the legal advisor of Liberty residents regarding this preventable death.
On November 25, 2012, Behrooz felt severe pain in his chest and was transferred to a hospital in Baghdad as an emergency patient. The hospital doctors wanted to hospitalize him in the CCU but Maliki’ intelligence agents prevented it and pressurized the physicians to refuse to hospitalize Behrooz.
The patient’s interpreter called the head of the UNAMI monitoring team at Liberty from the hospital informing him of Behrooz critical condition and the prevention of his hospitalization. However, no action was taken.
The next day, on November 26th, the residents’ legal adviser wrote in a report sent to Mr. Kobler, Mr. Busztin, his deputy, Francesco Motta, head of the UNAMI Human Rights Office, US and the UNHCR officials, “Last night one of the patients dispatched by the camp clinic’s physician to Yarmouk Hospital as an emergency case due to heart problems, faced harassment by the intelligence agent who had gone along with the patient.”
Behrooz Rahimian also wrote a letter to the UNAMI Human Rights Office. His letter and other documents related to his medical records are evidence of the Iraqi government’s intention to kill patients in Ashraf and Liberty by gradual torture.
The international community must not remain silence in face of the crimes of the religious fascism ruling Iran against Ashraf and Liberty residents.
