The 35th day of Iranians’ sit-in outside UN headquarters in New York on Friday, a number of other Iranians and families of Ashraf residents from different US cities joined the sit-in participants.

First the video message of Congressman Bob Filner, California Democrat and chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, addressing the Ashraf residents was shown in which he In a video message emphasized that Ashraf residents are political refugees and protected persons under the international conventions andd particularly Geneva Conventions.

Then Reverend Loyyed Land from the Brooklyn Church of New York, delivered speech and said: 35 day has passed of your sit-in in front of the UN for defense of human rights of those who have stood against dictatorship, the truth is that they resist for humanity and freedom and I know them as freedom-lovers…I ask the UN to support Ashraf residents rights and protection based on the international conventions.

Then the solidarity message of the Iranian society residing in Texas was read which asked UN Secretary General, ICRC and MNF-I to guarantee the Ashraf residents’ rights according to Fourth Geneva Convention and other international conventions.

The next speaker was Vyas Deepak from Indian Human Rights Society who had visited and severely affected by the exhibition of the human rights violation by the clerical regime in Iran. He said: The Indian people condemn these barbaric atrocities of the Iranian regime and admire the Iranian Resistance standpoints. He asked the UN Secretary General to carry out the necessary measures to guarantee Ashraf residents protection.
