Supporters of the Iranian Resistance staged a demonstration outside the UN headquarters on July 19th, coinciding with UN Special Representative to Iraq Ad Melkert appearing in the UN. The demonstrators demanded from UN chief Ban Ki-moon and Melkert to consider assuming the protection of Ashraf residents as the UN’s top priority. They also called on the UN to station a UNAMI team in Ashraf to provide protection for Ashraf residents and prevent yet another massacre.
