Iraqi forces under the command of Iraqi Prime Ministry Committee tasked to suppress Ashraf residents have increased harassment and stealing of residents’ property and have created a climate of fear:
While temperature in Ashraf reaches 50 °C in the shade, Sunday morning (June 17), Iraqi forces prevented a fuel tanker entry to Ashraf. Intensive contacts by residents, UNAMI and United Nations observers with Prime Minister’s office, which continued until the afternoon, did not resolve anything.
These forces also prevented the entry of a small truck of fresh fruit and vegetables that after a long time was supposed to come for the 1300 Ashraf residents and returned it.
In recent days the Iranian regime intelligence agents along with Iraqi forces have started to repair the speakers and identify populated parts of Ashraf and filming different places. Intelligence agents have threatened that psychological torture would begin again by loudspeakers. They threaten residents that over the coming days “we will kill you in the camp and will bury you here.” When one resident protested against this behaviour of the agents, the Iraqi forces pointed their guns at him (Photo attached). The Iranian regime agents have been involved for nearly two years with 300 loudspeakers in psychological torture and threats against the lives of the inhabitants.
Meanwhile the Iraqi forces continued stealing Ashraf residents’ property in northern Ashraf, including a 20 kW generator, two air conditioner units and some furniture from residential buildings in this area. These buildings were occupied in the bloody attack of 8 April 2011 by invading Iraqi forces.
During this period ten computers from the container that belonged to the fifth group and after one month has not yet been transferred to Liberty, were stolen by Iraqi forces. Electrical panel and power cables belonging to the residents’ power station have also been stolen.
From 11:00 pm Wednesday June 6th to 3:00 am the next morning, army vehicles and the rapid response police patrolled around the camp using sirens and beaming laser light into Ashraf, and stationed vehicles in various places getting attack positions, took comfort and sleep of residents away.
